You will need a jar and variety of colored items: sand, beads, marbles, torn papers, small toys. Explain that rainbow colors go in order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple. Have your child then make layers of the different colors.

Rainbow on a string
Give your child a piece of yarn and a pile of fruit loop cereal. Help your child make a necklace using the rainbow color order.

Insy Weensy Leprechaun

The insy weensy leprechaun had a pot of gold
he hid it under a rainbow or so I am told
The insy weensy leprechaun dressed all in green
is super dooper sneaky never to be seen

Add-On Leprechaun Story
Have the children sit in a circle and start the story with: “Once there was a little leprechaun looking for some gold, but was caught by a . . .”, then let the next child add some to the story. Go around the circle and let each child have a turn to add to the story.
